What are dental implants?

Contrary to popular belief, the process of getting an implant could not be easier, and even more so nowadays with the advancement in technology and computers being used in almost all aspects of the procedure.

The first step is accurate diagnosis and planning. A number of xrays are used to determine the amount and quality of bone that you have, so the proper implant size and shape could be selected.

After selection, the procedure consists of 2 main steps:

Surgical step: This is where the screw is placed inside the bone. Traditionally, if the patient has lost all of their teeth, 8 implants would be needed for replacement in the upper arch, and 6 in the lower, with a bridge that replaces all the teeth. With the all on 4 concept, special implants placed in a special way are used, so that only 4 in the upper arch and 4 in the lower arch are needed, saving time, money and having overall less surgery.
